To some burlesque is a spectacular strip tease with performers adorned in thousands of glittering jewels, to others it’s a political statement on what being a woman means today. For international burlesque artist Lola LaBelle, it’s both.
Lola began her burlesque career in Los Angeles, and has since become one of the dominant figures on the international scene. She has headlined major casinos and prestigious theatres around the world including in Europe, Australia and the US. She’s been featured in over 200 international newspapers including BBC News, Sky TV News, The Guardian, The Scotsman, The Evening Standard, Cosmopolitan Magazine, The Sydney Daily Telegraph, The Stage, Edinburgh Spotlight, and TMZ ; and has a natural onstage charm that won her “Most Beautiful” at Boston’s Burlesque Festival. As a producer Lola’s passion for creating unique and unforgettably entertaining experiences has helped garner her a series of 5-star reviews and awards.
Lola founded the House of Burlesque Ltd. (UK) in 2009, and quickly helped drive it to become one of Europe’s top burlesque production companies, offering a diverse selection of shows (including ‘Burlesque Idol’, ‘Shipwrecked!’ and ‘Circus Burlesque ’) and classes. That same year, Lola led the famous Burlesque Protest against the camden council licensing board with activist Samantha Roddick of Coco de Mer. In 2010 Lola was one of the headliners for the inaugural Australian Burlesque Festival and then proceeded to the Edinburgh Festival taking home the “Editor’s Pick of The Fringe” award, a number of 5-star reviews, selling out and being offered a number of prestigious UK tour dates to follow including the Theatre Royal Windsor. In 2011 Lola was asked to create her own show for Europe’s largest casino in Campione D’Italia where she was honored by the press as the new “Queen of Burlesque” (Varese News ).
She currently produces full-time for private events and tours around the world, including Burlesque Idol Australia, US and recently, the theatrical tour of the UK.
